Healthcare Associated Infection
Clinical Indicator Manual Consultation

The goals of healthcare associated infections (HAI) Surveillance are to ensure:

  • Appropriate clinical indicators are collected and reported in keeping with national and international recommendations
  • All NSW public healthcare facilities use standardised definitions and methodology
  • The validity of data through validation exercise.

The Healthcare Associated Infection Clinical Indicator Manual outlines the minimum level of healthcare associated infection (HAI) surveillance that NSW public healthcare facilities providing acute care services are to undertake.

The Clinical Excellence Commission has reviewed and updated the existing HAI Clinical Indicators and comment is invited on any of the 21 sections of the new HAI Clinical Indicator Manual.
