World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week 18 – 24 November 2024
18 November 2024
World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week is a global campaign highlighting the critical importance of judiciously using antimicrobials.
The 2024 theme – Educate. Advocate. Act Now – represents a call to action to help reduce the spread of antimicrobial resistance.
As antimicrobial resistance continues to rise, we must take proactive steps to ensure these lifesaving medicines remain effective for future generations.

"By educating ourselves and others about the responsible use of antimicrobials, advocating for better practices, and taking action within our communities and health facilities, together we can reduce the threat of resistance," said Dr Harvey Lander, CEC Director Systems Improvement.
Together, we can help preserve the power of antimicrobials and safeguard our health for years to come!
The CEC has compiled 3 patient stories that relate to this year's theme and highlight different issues regarding antimicrobial use.
