Mental Health Patient Safety Program

The Clinical Excellence Commission is committed to partnering with Local Health Districts and Specialty Health Networks to design and implement the NSW Mental Health Patient Safety Program. This important piece of work aims to create the organisational conditions that supports teams to continuously improve the safety and quality of mental health care.

The Mental Health Patient Safety Program is a NSW Ministry of Health initiative that arose from the Chief Psychiatrist's Review of Seclusion, Restraint and Observation of Consumers with a Mental Illness in NSW Health Facilities. A recommendation of the review was that NSW Health must adopt a mental health patient safety program, informed by contemporary improvement science.
