The video was developed in response to the current blood culture bottle shortage, as best practice blood culture collection will improve how blood cultures are used and potentially prevent some wastage.

Infection prevention and control guidance for managing suspected or confirmed cases of infections with a high consequence infectious disease (HCID). HCIDs are infectious diseases where the disease is not established in the NSW population, where there is a potential for human-to-human or animal-to-human spread and where the disease has a significant health impact on the individual or at a population level should widespread transmission occur.
