If a CAUTI does occur in a facility, it may be of value to investigate what caused the infection and whether any local measures could be adopted locally to prevent the occurrence of further incidents.
CAUTI Audit Tool
An audit tool has been developed to assess whether key infection control risks have been adequately addressed as part of routine catheter care. Wards/units can carry out this audit on an 'as needs' basis or may prefer to adopt a regular auditing cycle. This tool also is available electronically on QARS - search for Questionnaire ID 1592.
Investigation Questionnaire
An investigation questionnaire has been developed to assist local infection prevention and control units in investigating the risk factors that have contributed a CAUTIs event. This tool also is available electronically on to all users on QARS - search for Questionnaire ID 1385.
