Appropriate consultation and engagement with clinicians, patients and communities in relation to the design and delivery of relevant health services is a responsibility of the Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC).
Finance and Performance Committee
The primary role of the Finance and Performance Committee is to ensure the operating funds, capital works funds and service outputs required of the CEC, are being achieved in an appropriate and efficient manner.
Audit and Risk Management Committee
The Board of the Agency for Clinical Innovation and Board of the Clinical Excellence Commission together, have established the Audit and Risk Committee in compliance with the NSW Health Internal Audit Policy.
The objective of the Committee is to provide independent assistance to the Boards in respect of the Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) and the Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC) by monitoring, reviewing and providing advice about the Organisations' governance processes, risk management and control frameworks, and its external accountability obligations.
Research and Education Committee
The primary role of the Research & Education Committee is to:
- provide leadership to, and governance oversight of research and education conducted by the CEC, to improve the safety and quality of care for patients in NSW public hospitals; and
- advise the Board on the priority, quality and relevance of research and education undertaken or proposed to be undertaken by, on behalf of the CEC.
In June 2018, in collaboration with the Agency for Clinical Innovation, the Clinical Excellence Commission established a joint Consumer Council to create a stronger consumer voice for safety, quality and innovation in NSW health.
The council is made up of a range of people who have experienced healthcare either as a patient, carer or family member and are keen to contribute to improvements.
The council members will draw on personal experiences to explore and problem solve ways of improving both the delivery of healthcare and patient experience.
