Adjunct Professor Michael C Nicholl appointed CE

Adjunct Professor Michael C Nicholl has been appointed the Chief Executive of the Clinical Excellence Commission.

Adjunct Professor Nicholl joins the CEC after an esteemed clinical career during which he has most recently been the Senior Clinical Advisor, Obstetrics for the Health and Social Policy Branch in the Ministry of Health, Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Sydney, Northern Clinical School at Royal North Shore Hospital, and Clinical Director, Maternal, Neonatal and Women's Health Network, Northern Sydney Local Health District.

Recognised for his national leadership in quality and safety of maternity services, Adjunct Professor Nicholl was also the first Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) Fellow to gain admission as Fellow of Australasian Association for Quality in Health care.

With a clinical career of more than 40 years, 30 of which have been in specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist roles and 15 years as a senior clinician manager, Adjunct Professor Nicholl has demonstrated leadership and commitment to promoting excellence in safety and quality in clinical care in NSW, for consumers, their families and staff, a commitment he will be well placed to continue as Chief Executive of the CEC.

Adjunct Professor Nicholl will officially commence the role on 1 August 2022.
